Meeting Notes, 5/17/06

1. the question was asked of what constitutes a salad. Differing perpectives suggested that a salad is:
-anything from a salad bar (sammy)
-any combination of things (eg, meat salad) (socks)
criticism, which was left unanswered, questioned the clarity of these definitions

2. we will blitz out a summary of available tournaments this summer, and discuss them as a team later

3. we'll look to make decisions through group discussion. the presidents and captains will be in charge of blitzing out about stuff.

4. a mattrress strapped to the back would be a good invention for a narcoleptic, unless he were to fall on his face, which would just be painful.

5. watson's birthday is pretty close to the usual date of the hat tournament. maybe we could call it "poohface's birthday hat." suggested shirt designs include a small baby wearing alot of gaia and under-armor geat and saying "Our hat tournament is going to be thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis biiiiiiiiiiig!"

6. most of the 08s are going to be off in the winter, and alot will be off in the fall. this means we have to go all out on recruiting next year.

7. the chocolate milk from food court is soooo good. you also get a dollar if you return the bottle, which is pretty cool.

8. someone invented an invention machine. how sick is that?!? it invents more inventions!! good god, where does it stop...?

9. east wheelock is a waste of space. why do the hallways have to be so wide? and why are there so many study rooms. Suggestions for making better use of space include a ball pit, or themed study rooms.

10. the hypothesis was suggested that farts are better at establishing territorial dominance than urine. thankfully, this hypothesis was not tested at 17.

11. Chuck-fuck-or-marry for a universe that revolves around Rory, Sam Routhier, and Rem produced the following results:

But seriously...so, we need to decide on:

-which tourneys we want to go to
--subset: what's more important?
--location (close/far)
--sweetness
--level of play
--number of tourneys we go to (more than 2-3 would be asking a lot)
--timing/conflict with club stuff?

-who's playing with what club team, time commitments therein

-general practice matters--how often/how long/etc (this would relate to the above, I'd think)

-anything else of large import? How much executive power is going to our summer admin?

I agree with Watson on this one...I really don't have any interest in going to a tournament that's over 4 hours away. And, we'll probably have limited funds for traveling as well. Jazzfest is normally held the same weekend of Mars and it's in Montreal - supposed to be a lot of fun. Usually there are a bunch of tournaments in Amherst, Mass as well.
